I have been lucky enough to photograph the Miller family three times in the last few years, and it has been so exciting to watch them grow—especially their son! When I first starting photographing them, I don’t think he was even quite a year old yet—and now look at him.
The Milers’ time is coming to a close on Oahu, so Mom wanted to do something completely different with this session than we had done with our previous photos. Since they love the Koolau Mountains and lush greenery, we wanted to go somewhere that we could incorporate these two things. Mom had been into the Ho’omaluhia Botanical Gardens and just fell in love with the location—so I set out to get a session set up there. I was able to get in touch with the City and County of Honolulu and line up a permit so we could shoot at this stunning location.
The family had already scoped out the perfect spot that evening before their photo session—it was down near the lake, nestled right below the mountains. PERFECT! The location was gorgeous, and the weather could not have been any better for us that morning. I couldn’t have asked for more!
During the session itself, I especially had fun playing with the Millers’ sweet little boy on the bridge next to the lake. He was such a BOY—throwing rocks into the stream, climbing trees, and running through the grass. I loved capturing this moment in his life.
Thank you, Kateri & Ryan, for coming back to see me one last time. I’ve been so lucky to have the opportunity to watch you grow over the last three years, and I will miss you! I hope our paths cross again in the future, but until then, best of luck on your new adventure!
