The Art of Capturing Kiddos

When it comes to child photography, especially when they’re this little…I’ve found that it’s best to let them steal the show. After all, happy babies are the cutest babies. Right?! As soon as I have a birthday boy or girl step into my studio for their session, the day is theirs! If they want to dance and spin, we dance in spin. If they want to sit quietly and take their time warming up to me, that’s totally cool with me! Putting pressure on kids to perform in the way we visualize the perfect session oftentimes backfires on us as photographers. Candid photography is all about capturing the true essence of your subject. That’s exactly what we were able to do with little Shealee!

The only thing sweeter than her cake was her smile. Speaking of the cake, mama had it made by a family friend. I’m sure you’ll agree with me when I say it’s a blessing to have such talented friends! The cake was gorgeous and equally delicious. Our little mermaid was trying to share it with us the whole time. Isn’t the heart of a child such a beautiful thing?

All in all, it was an amazing session. We had plenty of sweet treats, sweet laughter and sweet moments captured. Happy birthday, darling girl! It was an honor being your Honolulu Cake Smash Photographer
