I was so excited to finally get to meet Angela and Koyrn after I met Angela online last year, before she moved to Hawaii. We had connected through the American Military Partner Association, and Angela was preparing to move to Hawaii while her wife, Koryn, was still in basic training. Angela told me that she had not been able to get the wedding portraits she wanted or get professional photos of her and Koryn, so I could not wait for them to get to Hawaii so I could do this for them.

When we finally got together, we went to one of my favorite places to shoot and wanted to get a sunrise session, but we did not see too much of the sun that particular morning. We got just the tiniest bit of light coming through the clouds—but that was great, because I jumped at the chance to get some good silhouettes of these lovely ladies.

At the end of the session, I got them both in the water, and those photos were a blast! They were such good sports, even when the water splashed them a little more powerfully than we had anticipated. In fact, one of Angela’s favorite photos is the one where the water came up and splashed them while they were smiling at each other.

Angela & Koryn, thank you so much for allowing me to finally meet and work with you! You are full of such amazing, genuine love, and I can’t wait to continue to capture that love over the next few years while you are on Oahu!
