About a week ago, Allison’s mommy, Amanda, contacted me for a last-minute cake smash session for her daughter. Luckily, I just happened to have an opening the next evening—it was truly meant to be!

When Allison first met me, she flashed a few smiles, but then suddenly, she went into “stranger danger” mode. This is actually very common for children around this age, so I try to keep my distance and ease them into the session—but Allison was not having it! She cried, covered her pretty face, and gave the cake the evil stare.

So, we tried switching it up a bit. We took the cake away and gave her some pearls and a few other props to play with. Over the next few minutes, Allison start to laugh and play—success!—and we slowly eased the cake back onto the set. Allison welcomed the cake and even tried to offer everyone a bit of it!
