I had been excited to take pictures with this family from the moment Tracy emailed me about family portraits. She told me it had been almost 7 years since they had a family photo. 7 years!! That means Roman, their son, was only 1-year-old the last time—can you believe it? I knew I had to get her in as soon as possible, so she got my last slot available in October.

Anyway, on the day of the session, there were off and on rain showers all day, and things were not looking promising. After a lot of texting back and forth, Mom finally just told me, “Let’s go for it! I’m British, and a little rain doesn’t scare me.” So, it sounded like things were a go! We packed an umbrella just in case and went out to the beach, but we just had a gorgeous overcast sky—no rain in sight. (And no umbrellas!)

Roman and his sister, Willow, are such great kids and had so much fun at our session! Willow kept begging for more photos, and Roman was quite the camera ham—the whole thing was like some sort of Ralph Lauren ad. They all just look so perfect—straight out of a magazine. (And I rocked the off camera flash so we could capture that beautiful sky, if I do say so myself.)

Then it was Mom and Dad’s turn. They’d never had any wedding photos, so we decided to take some, ten years later! (If you have to have “wedding” photos way after the wedding itself, might as well have them in Hawaii!) They certainly didn’t have any problems with the kiss on the beach or just being close to one another—those two are obviously just so in love!
