Introducing Mr. Ryan Cruz and his parents! I always talk about how much I adore the parents of the children I photograph, but these two just take the cake. I mean, seriously—they are not only the coolest but the most relaxed and loving parents I have ever met!

Ryan came to me just a little bit later than I would normally take a newborn—19 days after he was born at Tripler Army Medical Center—but he totally rocked the session. (I think he follows in Mom and Dad’s footsteps.) I mean, really . . . he was just the sweetest. He spent 90% of his time sleeping, which is great for a baby that old who is being molded and folded into poses.

Mom wanted a lot of Americana and military props in the session, and we were able to incorporate a lot of what she asked for. We even had Dad get into his military uniform for some memorable photographs with his son—they both looked so perfect! Then came the parent shots, and I’ve got to say, they totally look like pros, don’t they?

Thank you so much, Maria & Don, for allowing me to capture your little peanut and for being such amazing parents to work with! I can’t wait to see you guys again and to watch Ryan (AKA Mr. Cruz) grow!
